Boxing gloves, skateboards, signed NBA jerseys... at Atelier Forville in Cannes, you can "frame" anything.

The Atelier Forville, located near the market of the same name, has expanded. Audrey and Baptiste decided to move into the adjacent space and expand. The collector duo needed a space to showcase their passion. "We had a big problem: we had a lot of things and not enough space. Not enough walls. And then we realized that people didn't necessarily dare enter a workshop for fear of disturbing it. Whereas this is an art gallery, admission is free. The public can come and admire what we do, without necessarily buying anything."
Boxing gloves, casino chips, tennis ball…The small, classic canvas workshop has gradually specialized in framing... collector's items. Now, Audrey and Baptiste "frame everything" : a boxing glove signed by Mike Tyson, old casino chips from the Palm Beach and the Carlton, a Nes Dragon Ball game cartridge, signed NBA player jerseys, reproductions of license plates from movie cars (the Toyota from Fast and Furious , the Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch , etc.), a tennis ball signed by Roger Federer... "We try to stand out a little like that, because we are collectors and we want to offer what we like."
To showcase all these objects and create relief frames, nothing is too complicated technically, explain Audrey and Baptiste. The most important thing is to add elements to highlight the main object, "the setting of the work." For example, in the frame of NBA players' jerseys, there is also a plaque explaining the basketball players' positions, their periods of activity, etc.
Think about the final rendering"You just have to think and think about things backwards. You have to think about the final result, the depth... To frame a car plate or a glove, the system is exactly the same: you have a slightly thick box and, on top, you put a rod for the finish. Then comes the choice of photos, colors..." For the glove signed by Tyson, for example, the professionals wanted to "bring something powerful" . Hence the choice of black, red, but also white, which helps to lighten the contours. "The most important thing is the harmonization. These are stagings that we do."
On the walls of the gallery and the workshop, you can see many unusual objects collected by Audrey and Baptiste. "There are very specific pieces that are really close to our hearts, that we keep aside, that we like to share. But we have a large part of them for sale."
"Everything can be dismantled"With all types of prices, starting at 60 euros. "It allows people to have a piece that's a little different and fun! We decided to set the right price so we can simply share our passion with others. I'm a collector and passionate about space, sports, the Second World War, automobiles..."
Baptiste also had the chance to frame... the suit of the Monegasque Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, which he wore at the Mexico Grand Prix and which he had autographed... "1.80m! We pinned everything. Moreover, everything is removable, nothing is damaged. You just have to open the frame and behind, everything is fixed with copper wire." All the collectibles are respected by this duo who are passionate about beautiful objects. "We work with our hearts. And I think that today, that's what allows us to do something good!"
